The Original Pilipino Music (OPM) iconic band Eraserheads reunion concert is finally happening!
The Eraserheads fans went on a frenzy when the former band members posted a cryptic image in their respective Instagram accounts.
The band was known for using the backward letter E as a symbol. This was the reason why Eraserheads fans were thrilled when all of them posted the backwards E in their Instagram account last Saturday, September 17, 2022. On that day also, it was speculated that the band will reunite for one last time.
Fast forward to today, September 19, 2022, the band’s leader Ely Buendia confirmed that the reunion will happen on December 22, 2022 when he posted another photo.
The reunion concert is called “Huling El Bimbo”, which happens to be one of the famous songs of the band.Â
The First Reunion Concert
In July 2008, the band members confirmed their reunion for a one-off concert on August 30, 2008 at The Fort Open Field, Taguig City. The concert was cut short as Ely Buendia was rushed to the hospital due to chest pains.
The Final Set
The Eraserheads went back on stage and dubbed as “The Final Set” on March 7, 2009 at SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds. The sold-out concert was attended by approximately 100,000 E-Heads fans.Â
I wasn’t able to watch the past reunion concerts of Eraserheads due to busy schedule and competing priorities.Â
The first time I got to watch the band live was when they played in our school way back in 2000. Though they only played 3 songs, no words could explain the experience in watching one of your favorite local bands play in person.
This is it!
After 13 years, the band will reunite for one night reunion concert to remind us the 90s feels. I will definitely not let this pass. I want to see and hear their hit songs once again.
The Eraserheads is also known as “The Beatles” of the Philippines and one of the most influential and successful rock band in the history of Filipino music.
The reunion concert will be held at the SMDC Festival Grounds.
